S T O R YÂ Â O FÂ Â # L I F EÂ
After traveling the globe with the desire to document people’s stories and provide a voice for the voiceless, I found myself in Los Angeles helping pioneer a social media department. Every day, I lived and breathed hashtags.
My co-worker at the time, who was also my roommate journeyed with me around Los Angeles and more often than not we found ourselves in “memorable” situations. Like that one time, we ran out gas while heading up the grade on the 101 and our co-worker came to the rescue. Or that other time we were cast as background actors on a potential Lifetime film as pregnant women- fake baby bumps and all. Whether our circumstances were favorable or outright annoying, we’d look at each other and say, “#LIFE”.
Summed up in the word LIFE is the amazing, the good, the bad and the ugly. There are things that we experience as a part of our reality that we’d rather cover up and gloss over, while other things we ensure everyone knows about. At the end of the day, these things are equally valuable, equally a part of our stories, equally us. If we can be real about the entirety of our stories, it’s not only healing for us but also has the potential to change the #LIFE of another.
